Australian women are swooning over a French hero who took to a bollard and bravely faced the Westfield Bondi Junction knife on Saturday afternoon.
Damien Guerot was going to the gym with his French compatriot Silas Despreaux when they stumbled upon the scene of the massacre.
Guerot grabbed a retractable barrier and confronted the killer Joel Cauchi, 40, as he advanced menacingly down an escalator.
Australian women are now roundly praising Mr Guerot, who has earned the nickname “Bollard Man”, for his heroic act.
“It’s good to see one of the men had guts,” said one, while another added: “Finally some REAL MEN.”

“What an incredible man risked his own life to try to save so many more, which I believe he did because we simply don’t know how many more would have been injured or killed if he had freely walked up that escalator to continue with his life.” rampage!’ one wrote.

comes as Prime Minister Antonio Albanese has promised to grant him Australian citizenship after his heroic act.
Mister Guerot’s visa expires in a month and a petition has been launched to grant him Australian citizenship following his heroic acts amid the Bondi Junction stabbing.
On Tuesday morning Albanese was asked about Guerot’s visa.

‘I say to Damien Guerot, who deals with your visa applications, that you are welcome here. You are welcome to stay as long as you like.
‘This is someone we would appreciate if he became an Australian citizen, although that would of course be a loss for France.
‘We thank you for your extraordinary bravery. He says a lot about the nature of humanity.
‘At a time when we are facing difficult issues, someone who is not a citizen of this country bravely stood at the top of those escalators and stopped this perpetrator from going up to another floor and potentially inflicting more massacre on citizens.

Cauchi apparently attacked women, but authorities have not yet identified the motive for the country’s worst massacre in recent years.
He was shot dead after killing Dawn Singleton, 25, Jade Young, 47, Pikria Darchia, 55, Yixuan Cheng, 27, and Faraz Tahir, 30, while Ashlee Good, 38 years, died later in hospital.
A girl seriously injured in the massacre shows signs of recovery.
Seven people, including the child, remained hospitalized Monday night.
