Anthea Turner has revealed she has been suffering from a secret injury for years following an accident on the set of Blue Peter in 1992, she told her fans on Thursday.

The TV presenter, 64, who hosted the children’s favorite show from 1992 to 1994, has been receiving frequent acupuncture ever since to relieve pain.

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Fine needles are inserted into certain locations in the body for therapeutic or preventive purposes.

During a live show, Anthea revealed that she hurt her neck while “flying over a vault” and has been suffering from the pain ever since.

While praising her doctor, who had helped her with the injury over the years, she wrote: “This is me and one of my favorite people in the whole world, acupuncturist Dr. Simon Cheung.” He’s never posted on his insta so I won’t even bother. (laughing emojis)

‘Simon has been sticking pins in me since 1992, when during a live show on Blue Peter I threw myself into a piece of gym display equipment and hurt my neck while flying over a vault (no one knew).

‘For a week I suffered, nothing helped me, then the universe put Simon in my path and after 1 session of ‘pins’ I was no longer in pain.

‘The second photo is of us in Harpers & Queen magazine around 1997, looking much younger than we are now. His hair and my sharp chin – WOW!!

‘Since then, Simon has helped me get ahead; Endometriosis, stress, torn ACL, broken kneecap, broken ankle, broken fifth metatarsal, IVF, divorce stress, general stress, menopause, more stress. Honestly, the list goes on!

‘Right now it is helping me with my blepharitis, it is multifactorial but in my case it largely has to do with underperforming meibomian glands.

‘Here Simon is creating the best environment for the little critters to function in and something is definitely working.

‘The success of acupuncture, like many things in life, depends on who performs the procedure.

‘Before training as a Chinese doctor, Simon trained as a microbiologist and virologist at the University of Liverpool.

‘She subsequently worked as a research assistant in the medical research team at the Richard Dimbleby Cancer Research Department at St Thomas’ Hospital and gained her Master of Science in Radiotherapy and Cancer Research.

“He is now part of a talented group led by Dr. Tim Evans & Associates based in Chelsea, which is where I see him for a specific problem like the current one or just maintenance.

‘Best of all though, our chats are kinky, funny and intuitive, but they both always laugh even when I’m at my lowest. Thanks Simón ‘

During her time as a Blue Peter presenter, Anthea delivered a now-iconic creation recreating the famous Thunderbirds Tracy Island, considered one of the most difficult crafts in the show’s history.

Blue Peter was first launched in 1958 and is the longest-running children’s television series in the world.

At its peak, the show had eight million viewers per episode, but now only 37,700 people tune in each week.
