Ant and Dec held back tears as they said an emotional goodbye at the end of this weekend’s final Saturday Night Takeaway.
The duo, both 48, closed the ITV series after 20 years with a heartfelt speech thanking viewers at home before serenading the audience with a song.
Ant and Dec explained how they had been inspired to create the beloved series by similar family shows from their youth, but never imagined it would have been such a hit with viewers and remained on air for two decades.
Dec, holding his friend’s hand, tearfully told viewers the show was his before playing a montage of the show’s most memorable moments.
