Another former immigration detainee arrested in Brisbane after allegedly violating visa conditions

Another former immigration detainee has been charged with allegedly failing to comply with the conditions of his visa.

The 31-year-old man, born in Afghanistan, was arrested by Australian Federal Police in Brisbane on Tuesday.

He allegedly breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa twice in April by failing to comply with mandatory curfews.

He has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with curfew conditions.

The 31-year-old faces a maximum sentence of five years behind bars and a fine of $93,900.

He is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

The man is believed to be one of 150 men released in November after the High Court ruled indefinite detention was unlawful.

The move has sparked widespread controversy and calls are increasing for Immigration Minister Andrew Giles to resign.

Another released detainee, Majid Jamshidi Doukoshkan, 43, is one of three people charged in the alleged brutal attack on 73-year-old Ninette Simmons.

Police in Western Australia say three people attacked Simmons and her husband Philip, 76, claiming her hands were tied behind her back while they stole $200,000 worth of jewellery.

On Monday, a 45-year-old Sudanese man was arrested in Melbourne and charged with allegedly failing to comply with a mandatory visa curfew and failing to maintain a monitoring device.

The man is alleged to have breached the conditions of his Commonwealth visa on three occasions between April 20 and 29 this year by failing to comply with residential curfew obligations and failing to maintain his monitoring device.

He is expected to return to court on May 22.
