Just when you thought Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Robbie Dolan’s week couldn’t get any better, he duets on stage with singer and fellow Irishman Ronan Keating.

After winning the big race aboard the $81 Knight’s Choice on Tuesday, Dolan showed he has a big voice at the Crown Oaks Club luncheon in front of 1,250 guests on Wednesday.

The pair sang When You Say Nothing At All, Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl and Ronan Keating’s Life is a Rollercoaster.

“I hadn’t sung with Ronan before and we did a sound check, which was great,” Dolan said. News Corporation.

“It’s up there, it’s funny, I thought it had reached a level, but it keeps going up.”

Dolan, who held the winning jockey’s cup the entire time he was on stage, mentioned Tuesday after the race how much he admired Keating.

Keating, who made a bet on Dolan, was photographed hugging him afterward.

“He sang my song when he was on The Voice, so I had to go see him,” she said via Racenet.

Dolan, from County Kildare, west of Dublin, moved with his family to Australia eight years ago and had originally planned to stay for 12 months, but fell in love with the country.

A talented vocalist, the 28-year-old appeared on The Voice in 2022 and performed Daryl Braithwaite’s unofficial Cox Plate anthem, ‘The Horses’, at The Valley that year.

“Tonight I’ll sing after a few beers,” Dolan said.

‘It’s amazing and a lot of people doubted this little horse. Doubt me now.’

Dolan had previously stated that he would have to stop sensational racing if he ever won the big Australian race.

But amid the celebrations, Dolan walked back those comments, saying, “I’m not giving up.” That feeling was too good.

‘I can’t believe it. I watched every Melbourne Cup from the last 40 years last night and thought my best chance was to get him to stay on the trip and hopefully get home.

“It just proved everyone wrong.” “This is the biggest race in the world and winning it is incredible.”
