RIO DE JANEIRO — The Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro will host this year’s Copa Libertadores final, while the Copa Sudamericana title match will be played in Montevideo.
Alejandro Domínguez, the president of the South American Football Confederation, announced the venues on his social networks.
“Two unique parties that inspire us to believe big in this 2023!” Domínguez wrote
The Maracaná hosted the final of the Libertadores 2020, although it ended up being played in January 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. In a duel of Brazilians, Palmeiras beat Santos 1-0.
The Centenario stadiums in Montevideo and the Monumental stadium in Guayaquil were the venues for the 2021 and 2022 finals, respectively.
The 2023 final will be played on November 11.
The Montevideo stadium that will host the Copa Sudamericana final remains to be defined. The duel in the capital of Uruguay was scheduled for October 28.
