Police have renewed their appeal for information about grandmother Anne Marie Jeffery (pictured), who went missing from Lake Arragan, New South Wales, in August 2020.

It remains a mystery how grandma disappeared without a trace during a camping trip.

Anne Marie Jeffery, 73, went missing at around 9am on 25 August 2020, while briefly walking to the public toilets at Lake Arragan campsite, north of Brooms Head on the New South Wales mid-north coast.

Her husband and friends who were on the trip alerted emergency services, who spent the next three days searching for the grandmother but found no sign of her.

The search involved SES, RFS, National Parks and Wildlife and local volunteers.

Four years later, police have again appealed for information to help reconstruct how and why she disappeared.

Ms Jeffery’s disappearance was “sudden and devastating to her family, friends and community”.

“In every way Anne was a wonderful person who enjoyed camping with her loved ones, which made her disappearance all the more devastating,” Detective Inspector Ritchie Sim said.

He hopes the renewed public appeal will “spark memories of those who were in the area.”

“The information you have may be the missing piece of the puzzle that will help detectives find Anne,” Detective Inspector Sim said.

“Sadly, people go missing in the bush in New South Wales every year, so I would also like to remind the public to keep an eye on each other when camping or walking in the bush.”

An investigation into his disappearance last year concluded that Jeffrey had likely died on or after August 25, the date he vanished.

“The location of her death is somewhere in the vicinity of Lake Arragan and Red Cliff campsites near Brooms Head, New South Wales,” the coroner said in his 15-page report.

“I cannot determine whether he died on land or in the water.”

Ms Jeffery disappeared while walking to the toilet and no trace of her could be found during a three-day search by police and emergency services.

Ms Jeffrey is described as a woman of Caucasian appearance, slim build and grey hair.

She was last seen wearing a red and pink T-shirt, wool leggings, red shoes and a hat.
