What is ECT pregnancy?

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilized egg implants itself outside the uterus, usually in one of the fallopian tubes.

The fallopian tubes are the tubes that connect the ovaries to the uterus. If an egg gets stuck in it, it will not develop into a baby and your health may be at risk if the pregnancy continues.

Unfortunately, the pregnancy could not be saved. It usually has to be removed with medication or surgery.

In the UK, about 1 in 90 pregnancies are ectopic. This is about 11,000 pregnancies per year.
