Angry viewers noted how Kamala Harris’ SNL skit appeared to be virtually identical to one Donald Trump participated in while campaigning for president in 2015.
Harris could be seen talking to herself while making a surprise appearance Saturday night while sitting in front of a mirror, talking to actress Maya Rudolph, who played the Democratic presidential candidate.
But viewers quickly realized that the sketch was strikingly similar to one done nine years earlier by Trump.
Angry viewers noted how Kamala Harris’ SNL skit appeared to be virtually identical to one Donald Trump participated in while campaigning for president in 2015.
Viewers quickly realized that the sketch was strikingly similar to one done nine years earlier by Trump.
Just like Harris’ cold exposure, Trump was also seen talking to himself through the mirror and asking for advice for himself.
In the 2015 version, the cold open was seen when Trump was about to make an appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, also hosted by NBC, the same network that hosts Saturday Night Live.
There were many on social media who felt they had seen the act elsewhere before.
Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green was quick to tweet a message in all caps because she wanted to draw attention to the fact that the comedy sketch reeked of desperation.
Many viewers, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, pointed out the similarities between the two sketches nine years apart.
‘HOLY SHIT Kamala Harris COPIED President Trump’s appearance on SNL. Can you believe it? “This is what desperation looks like,” Green wrote.
Others on X also noted how the sketch, although different in its content, appears similar in its content and followed a familiar path.
“I’d like to remind anyone on the left who called Kamala Harris and Maya Rudolph’s mirror opening theme on Saturday Night Live ‘brilliant’ and ‘hilarious’ and that, once again, Donald Trump did it first,” he wrote an X user.
‘Trump laughs at how Kamala did the same skit she already did: research is important, look it up. “Same skit: SNL actor in front of him in a mirror scene,” another added.
‘SNL has done the mirror thing several times. But with an election pending, why would his campaign allow him to do something directly similar to the Trump sketch? The Trump parody was better thought out and much funnier. Looks like another example of the Harris campaign philosophy of Ready, Fire, Aim,” a fourth tweeted.
Many of the camera angles and settings looked virtually identical.
Both SNL and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon are comedy shows broadcast on NBC.
‘I like Donald Trump’s appearance in 2015 much more with the same mirror doing the same parody. At this point, the imitation strategy is ridiculous,” declared one of them.
Others criticized Harris’ campaign as another example of her disingenuousness.
‘You stole this parody from Trump! He did the president thing in front of the mirror YEARS before you. Typical move of yours and your campaign. You steal policies, you plagiarize your own books, you copy sketches. ‘You are TOTALLY FAKE’, they wrote.
Others seemed disappointed by the complete lack of originality.
‘I saw a clip of the ‘mirror’ parody and not only was it horrible, but it was a repeat of the ‘mirror’ parody with Trump and Fallon!!! What the hell were they thinking!?
