Reality TV star Angie Kent has opened up about her father Matt’s gruelling battle with blood cancer.

The 34-year-old Gogglebox Australia star told the magazine this week: Star Magazine that her parents kept her father’s diagnosis a secret until she returned home during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.

“My parents knew for a long time, but they told me when I got home because they know how sensitive I am. It was very hard to see someone you’d always thought was strong go through that,” she said.

Angie confessed that she was moved by the reality of the disease, which took her grandfather when she was just 11 years old.

“(Dad) was like a skeleton and his hair started falling out in clumps, so he shaved it all off,” she added.

Angie went on to say that her father, who is normally quite independent and likes to work, did not handle the illness well.

“She hated being in bed 24/7 and would get very irritable. Then the pain became so intense that she couldn’t speak for a while and just isolated herself,” she revealed.

But after receiving a bone marrow transplant to treat his cancer, Angie said her father “came through.”

“He’s like a cockroach. The way he has recovered from the bone marrow transplant has really stunned everyone… he has recovered like a champion.”

Angie appeared on Gogglebox Australia from 2015 to 2018, where the reality show captured her reactions to television shows alongside her friend Yvie Jones.

The pair would later appear on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2019, where Angie was the tenth celebrity to leave the jungle.

Later that same year, the blonde beauty appeared on the fifth season of the dating show, The Bachelorette, where she eventually ended up in a relationship with influencer Carlin Sterritt.

The couple split in June 2020, less than a year after they began dating.

After the breakup, Angie revealed that she is pansexual.

Talking with The Herald of the SunThe TV star said she had previously only dated men because society expected her to.

“I’ve always been pansexual, but I don’t think I’ve ever talked about it,” she told Confidential.

“It’s a societal thing. I never really got to explore it and now I’m like, ‘Come on, girl, get into this.'”

Pansexuality refers to an attraction to people regardless of their sex or gender identity.

“I don’t care who you are as long as we connect. Gender isn’t a big deal to me and it never has been,” Angie said.

“I’ve always dated guys because I was expected to,” she admitted.
