Top sports star’s fury when she learns her child attended daycare where Australia’s worst alleged pedophile worked
A former sports star is among horrified parents who discovered the man believed to be Australia’s worst pedophile was working in their children’s daycare.
Ashley Paul Griffith, 45, was this week identified as the man accused of 1,600 offences, including 136 rapes, while working at a Queensland childcare centre.
They are now holding an emergency meeting at a Gold Coast community hall on Friday night to support each other following the worrying revelation.
Queensland’s top sporting hero, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is expected to join their number.
They claim they were kept in the dark about the allegations against Griffith, despite the educator being charged with the offenses 12 months ago.
Ashley Paul Griffith, 45, was this week identified as the man accused of 1,600 offences, including 136 rapes, while working at a Queensland childcare centre.

Parents at a Gold Coast daycare where he worked, including a high-profile Queensland sports star, say they were not informed of the allegations against Griffith.
They say Griffith was known to be a “quiet” and shy man, but they have called on police to now check all other daycares where he previously worked.
The establishment at the center of the parents’ fury insists it was not involved in the matters brought before the court, reports the Gold Coast Bulletin.
“Ashley had all the requirements to be employed as a daycare educator, including the Working with Children’s Check blue card and completed child protection training,” the center told parents.
“We can confirm that a small number of educators and leaders were aware of the allegations following his arrest and had been in contact with the AFP before (his) details were published.
“Please note that we were required by Queensland law and asked by the AFP not to share, discuss or inform anyone about the investigation.”
“We know that in the future, with the change in the law, this inability to discuss will not happen again, and we welcome that.
“We are sorry for the shock caused by this sudden information and we share your concerns.”
