Angelique Kerber started her quest for a fourth Grand Slam title with a routine straight sets victory over Polona Hercog on Monday.

The Wimbledon champion needed just over an hour to beat her Slovenian opponent 6-2, 6-2.

The world number 2 is aiming for its second title in Melbourne after the victory in 2016.
