Angelique Kerber has revealed that she welcomed her first child, a baby girl, with partner Franco Bianco.

The tennis star, 35, took to Instagram on Monday to share the happy news and revealed they have named their little girl Liana.

In the post, Angelique revealed a black and white photo of the toddler’s hand resting on her parent’s fingers, as the sportswoman exudes the “beautiful and overwhelming” feeling of being a mother.

She also confirmed that she had given birth days before the announcement, noting that Liana was born on Saturday, February 25.

She wrote: ‘Welcome to our family, Liana *25.02.2023 ❤️ Having you with us is the most beautiful and overwhelming feeling we could have ever imagined.’

The post received a plethora of congratulations from her fans and celebrity friends, including tennis stars Ana Ivanović, Dominika Cibulkova and Caroline Wozniacki.

Just a week before the birth, Angelique shared a photo from a stunning photo shoot, showing off her burgeoning baby bump.

She hinted that the baby was coming very soon and simply wrote, “Waiting patiently.”

The birth comes after Angelique announced her pregnancy in August and talked about how she would pull out of the US Open afterward.

The former Wimbledon champion wrote: “I really wanted to see the games, but in the end I decided that two against one is just not a fair competition,” adding baby emojis as a clue to her news.

She continued, “Over the next few months I will be taking a break from traveling the world as a tennis player, but again I believe it is for the best possible reason! I will miss you all.

“New York has often been a turning point in my career and somehow it feels like this year will be no different!

“From restarting my career in 2011 to winning the title in 2016 and becoming number 1 in the world… the @usopen hold a special place in my heart and I wish I said goodbye to you on the track all could have taken before I wasn’t on tour for a while.
