Angelina Jolie’s estranged father Jon Voight has called on her ex Brad Pitt to end their “silly” eight-year divorce battle for the sake of their children.
Voight, 85, who last month criticized Jolie’s political views, said Fox Digital News that he hoped the couple could “find a way to make amends,” just days after Pitt’s daughter Shiloh officially dropped her last name.
He said: ‘You know, I think the kids need some stability. I love the kids and I love my daughter. And I want Brad to step up and do what he needs to do. Put an end to this nonsense.
He added that he “doesn’t talk to his grandchildren as much as he would like.”
Pitt and Jolie share six children (and separated in 2016), but their divorce (which included a contentious battle over a vineyard) has kept the drama of their split alive.

In July, Voight claimed that his daughter’s views on the war between Israel and Hamas had been “influenced by anti-Semitic people” during an impassioned interview with Variety.
“She’s been exposed to propaganda,” said right-wing pro-Israel activist Voight. “She’s been influenced by anti-Semitic people.”
“Angie has a connection with the UN and likes to speak out on behalf of refugees. But these people are not refugees.”
Although the father-daughter duo has had moments of reconciliation throughout their strained relationship, they have also experienced many turbulent moments that have led them to grow apart.
But Voight’s latest incendiary comment came less than a month after he said he was “proud” of Jolie and her granddaughter Vivienne after they stole the spotlight at the 2024 Tony Awards with their notable win.
The mother-daughter duo produced the musical The Outsiders, which won four trophies, including the top award for Best Musical.
“I’m very proud of Vivienne,” said Oscar winner Voight, 85. TMZ Afterwards. ‘I’m very proud of Angie because she really tries to encourage each of the kids to be what they want to be.’

Shiloh, who hired and paid for her own lawyer when she filed to remove the Pitt surname on her 18th birthday in May, has requested to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
TMZ reports that there was no formal hearing for the name change, and the request was granted on Monday, according to official court documents.
Last month, Shiloh placed a newspaper announcement marking the name change, which It is a standard step before the court approves a name change.
The notice also He stated that anyone who had objections to the petition should appear before the court.
A source close to the matter told Dailymail.com last month: ‘Shiloh hired her own lawyer and paid for it herself, so Angie doesn’t know about it and can’t speak about it.
“But if you’re asking me if this is related to Shiloh’s history of abuse or the violation of victims’ rights, yes, that’s part of it.”
The revelation that Shiloh paid herself suggests the nasty feud between former couple Pitt, 60, and Jolie, 48, may yet continue in the form of legal action by the six children the couple once shared.
There were lengthy custody battles that eventually ended in a victory for Pitt, who was awarded 50-50 custody in 2021 only to have it overturned on appeal.
He has asked a judge to intervene to tell Angelina that she must not listen to his cellphone calls with the children. The judge has also ordered “reunification therapy” for Pitt and the children.
The actor installed a skate park at his home for Shiloh and, more recently, an art studio to reflect their shared interest in art.
He has sent cars and security guards to transport the children from their home to his every time there is a custodial visit scheduled. Unfortunately, none of that has succeeded in bringing them closer.
In fact, his son Pax said in an Instagram post in 2016 that the four youngest children, including Shiloh, “tremble with fear in his presence.” The two eldest already flatly refused to see him.
The current situation has caused the children (Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and Knox and Vivienne, 16) to form a close-knit gang of seven with his ex-wife.

Pitt has been embroiled in an ongoing divorce battle for years, apparently stemming from a 2016 incident on a plane in which Jolie accused Pitt of assaulting her; the family seen in 2011
A central theme appears to be the notorious private jet clash that occurred in 2016.
In an FBI report on the incident, released in 2022, Jolie accused Pitt of physical assault while flying to California in 2016. She claimed he was intoxicated and grabbed her by the head and shook her, then pushed her to the ground, as part of a confrontation allegedly involving their children.
Jolie told the FBI that Pitt told the children she was “fucking this family up” and said he punched the ceiling of the plane four times.
She claimed that at one point he poured beer on her and a blanket she was under with several children.
A source close to Pitt later claimed he never hit any of the children, although they admitted he had been drinking.
This comes amid recent claims that Pitt and Jolie’s eight-year-old divorce is still ongoing as neither star can “let it go.”
A source said People “Their disagreements took over” the relationship, adding that things “got ugly and it wasn’t a good situation for anyone.”
‘All that bitterness is partly why the divorce has dragged on for so many years. Neither of them wants to let it go. You’d think they’d have gotten over it and just come to an agreement.’
Angelina Jolie, pictured in April 2024, has been blamed for widening the rift between her daughter and her ex-husband.
Another source said: “They both had issues with each other. The differences built up over time. It’s very sad for the children, but also for the parents. Divorce, especially one so high-profile, can be a challenge for the whole family.”
“They both care. They both care about the kids.”
Pitt and Jolie began dating publicly shortly after he and then-wife Jennifer Aniston announced their divorce in 2005.
The Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-stars remained single for years despite having several adopted and biological children together, but got engaged in 2012 and eventually married in 2014.
However, it was only two years later that the Maleficent actress filed for divorce in 2016. She and Pitt were declared legally single in 2019.
Pitt is now dating Ines de Ramon, 35.
