Angelina Jolie puts her long-running divorce to rest as she attends the Maria premiere at the 81st Venice Film Festival in a floor-length gown… after hinting at the ‘despair’ and ‘pain’ of her split from Brad Pitt

The dark cloud of divorce gave way to a blue sky on Thursday when Angelina Jolie attended the premiere of Maria at the 81st annual Venice Film Festival.

The actress, currently in the midst of a lengthy divorce from Brad Pitt, made a welcome appearance on the red carpet ahead of the first official screening of the film, in competition, at the annual ceremony.

Jolie looked stunning in an elegant floor-length evening gown with off-the-shoulder detailing as she waved to photographers on the second day of this year’s festival.

The actress, currently in the midst of a lengthy divorce from Brad Pitt, made a welcome appearance on the red carpet ahead of the first official screening of the film, in competition, at the annual ceremony.

The stunning champagne-coloured gown featured ruched detailing and a short train, and was finished with an elegant, fluffy stole and a gold floral brooch.

Angelina managed to crack a smile for the dazzling event despite recently… hinting at the high emotional cost of her divorce from Brad Pitt has taken charge of her, saying she has gone through “despair” and “pain.”

Jolie, 49, split from her movie star husband after a controversial plane incident in 2016.

In court documents, the woman said the man assaulted her and some of her six children and, in a fit of rage, threw wine and beer at the family. The man has always denied being violent towards her or the family.
