In response to the emotional new trailer for the film, which follows Callas’ final days in Paris in the 1970s, fans of the 49-year-old actress took to social media to reveal that they are in awe of her latest performance.
‘Shit, I can’t wait to see this movie!!! Seriously, I know I’ll be surprised by Angelina Jolie’s performance as Maria. The Oscar is coming for her,’ predicted one X user.
Another pleaded with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to simply “give the Oscar to Angelina Jolie for her performance as Maria Callas.”
A third, who admitted they hadn’t even seen the trailer, joked that they were already planning to “run Angelina Jolie’s Oscar campaign.”
