Jason Whitlock criticized Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese in a bizarre rant about her recent WNBA record.
The 22-year-old became the first player in league history to record 10 consecutive double-doubles in a single season, surpassing future Hall of Famer Candace Parker’s record of nine double-doubles set in 2015.
Despite the achievement, the controversial podcast host claimed the record was “made up” because it is not a “standard” metric in the NBA.
“Angel Reese’s consecutive double-double record in the WNBA is just made up,” she said on an episode of her Fearless podcast on Tuesday.
“Nobody knows who held the previous record. This has never been a standard in the NBA. Players average a double-double,” he added.

Reese became the first player in WNBA history to record 10 consecutive double-doubles.
Social media users were quick to criticise the shock announcer, with many pointing out that they knew Parker held the record.
“Uhhh, was that Candace Parker? Get out of here, Whitlock!” one person wrote.
Reese’s impressive feat came less than 20 games into her WNBA career, after… He finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds during his team’s 70-62 loss to the Minnesota Lynx Sunday night.
Initially it looked like Reese would fall short of the two points, however, on the Sky’s final offensive possession, he was fouled and went to the line.
Although she missed the first free throw, the second shot raised her total to 10 points, and the crowd went wild as her mother watched on excitedly.
“She knows what she does best,” Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon told reporters earlier this week.
For the past two months, she and Caitlin Clark have been at the center of a fierce debate.
Whitlock offered a theory as to why the Indiana Fever star has struggled in the WNBA.
‘She’s 20 games into her WNBA career and Caitlin Clark is too easy to defend,’ she wrote on X
“What’s special about her is that she’s incredibly hard on herself. As far as rebounding goes, we knew that would carry over into college. And she’s gaining a better understanding of how to score around the rim. She’s learning and she’s learning quickly.”
Reese has not only made headlines for her skills on the court, but also for the drama surrounding her long-standing rivalry with fellow rookie, Caitlin Clark.
The former Iowa superstar has also received criticism from Whitlock, who previously posited a theory as to why she has struggled at times during her very young WNBA career.
“She’s 20 games into her WNBA career and Caitlin Clark is just too easy to defend,” X wrote over the weekend.
“He doesn’t take any easy shots because he doesn’t look for them. I love his playmaking ability, but constantly taking difficult 25-foot shots doesn’t work.”
Many of Whitlock’s followers agreed with his sentiment and offered their own insights into how the 22-year-old was adjusting to the league after a stellar college career.
“Caitlin Clark does a phenomenal job of getting easy shots for her teammates, but they don’t know how to help her get easy shots. She will evolve, she definitely needs to be more aggressive with her attacks and attempts,” one fan tweeted.
“I think she’s just burned out from the long college season and then the crazy WNBA schedule,” another suggested.
