Angel Reese appeared to criticize Caitlin Clark in a hastily deleted tweet after the Chicago Sky beat the New York Liberty 90-81 on Thursday night.
Clark, who was selected by the Indiana Fever with the first overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft after her historic collegiate career with Iowa, had a nightmare start in the big leagues after losing her first five games.
Wednesday night’s loss to the Seattle Storm continued the 22-year-old’s torrid start to life in the WNBA, but it’s been quite the opposite for Reese.
The former LSU college star helped the Chicago Sky win two of their first three outings of the season, scoring 35 points in the process.
And after his latest win over Liberty, Reese apparently took a shot at Clark in a now-deleted post on X.

Reese appeared to take aim at his former college rival with this post before quickly deleting it.
‘And that’s about making a WIN in a crowded area, not just because of one player on our charter flight. #SKYTOWN,” he wrote, with a kiss emoji at the end.
Clark is credited with increasing interest in the WNBA after being picked first by Indiana in April’s draft, the same event in which Reese was chosen by Chicago.
The two were also great rivals in college, with Reese playing at LSU while Clark was at Iowa.
Reese and his Sky team did not have charter flights at the beginning of the season, but Clark and Iowa did.
Clark and the Fever have lost their first five games of the season.
And speaking Thursday, Reese criticized suggestions that women’s basketball was emerging solely from Clark.
“It’s not just one person, I think people don’t realize that (because) the narrative that exists is that just one person changes the game,” he said.
‘There are many of us. There are so many great players and it’s been needed for a long time and just being able to see our impact has been able to change the game.
Clark has had a nightmare start in the WNBA, going 0-5 with the Indiana Fever so far.
Reese, on the other hand, helped the Chicago Sky win two of their first three games.
Reese and Clark were bitter rivals in their college careers, and the LSU star poked fun at his Iowa counterpart by throwing his signature celebration in 2023 (pictured).
“I love it for all of us and we’re going to keep going.”
In a 2023 game between LSU and Iowa,
Reese memorably performed WWE legend John Cena’s ‘You can’t see me’ gesture in front of Clark, which the latter made famous earlier in a game against Louisville.
The Tigers star also looked at his college rival and pointed at his ring finger at the end of the fourth quarter.
In the Full Court Press documentary series recently released by ESPN, Clark shared his thoughts on the media storm that followed Reese’s celebration.
“That’s the only thing people wanted to talk about when we did this magical race and brought so many people together, and that was frustrating to me,” he shared.
Iowa coach Lisa Bluder also weighed in on the issue, saying, “The media was trying to create a circus out of racial issues, trying to stir up hate, and she (Clark) just didn’t let that happen.” .
