Angel Reese brightened a young fan’s night Saturday when she gave away her shoes after the WNBA All-Star Game.
Reese, a Chicago Sky rookie, impressed in her first All-Star appearance, recording a double-double as the WNBA team stunned Team USA.
And the ‘Bayou Barbie’ made sure to stop afterward to see a fan holding a special sign for the player.
One young fan was seen holding a sign offering the basketball star a Reese’s swap (a pun on Reese’s last name, of course) with the candy plastered all over the sign.
Reese did not take the chocolate from the girl, but instead took her shoes and autographed them for the well-wisher.
A young fan with a creative sign was thrilled to receive Angel Reese shoes on Saturday night.
Reese signed the shoes for the little girl, but did not take any candy from her sign.
The little girl smiled from ear to ear while a woman nearby also shouted ‘Thank you, Angel!’ several times.
It was a night to remember for Reese, who became the first rookie to record a double-double in WNBA All-Star Game history.
He scored 12 points and also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Reese was also teamed up with on-court rival Caitlin Clark, who also impressed for the WNBA All-Stars with 10 assists.
Before the game, the Chicago forward joked that she’ll “get along” with Clark “at least for a day.”
She told ESPN: ‘We haven’t spoken yet, obviously everyone can cheer us both on for a day, it’ll be great. I’m excited, this will be the first of many.
Reese specifically targeted the fan and handed her the shoes he wore to the All-Star Game.
Reese impressed in the competition, recording a double-double as the WNBA team won.
“In the future we’ll be on All-Star teams together, on Olympic teams together (holds up fingers crossed) in the future as well. I’m excited to be here right now. I’m happy.”
Meanwhile, Clark praised Reese after the two practiced together on Friday.
“It’s very weird to be here as a rookie and then to have two of us is really cool overall,” the Fever star said. “I think it will continue to help the growth of the game.”
Saturday was certainly a positive step in that direction, as celebrities like Aubrey Plaza were on hand in Phoenix for the action.
