WNBA star Angel Reese appeared to have deleted her Instagram account after facing backlash for her New Year’s Eve party look.
The 22-year-old’s social media page was no longer available Thursday morning when fans attempted to click on the Chicago Sky forward’s former name: @angelreese5.
Those who tried to access their Instagram profile were greeted with a message apologizing that the page was no longer available and informing them that it may have been deleted.
While Reese’s Instagram account appears to have been deactivated, his other social media platforms, including TikTok and X, were active at the time of publication.
The page’s mysterious disappearance comes after fans viciously attacked the rising star over Reese’s eye-catching outfit on New Year’s Eve.
Reese drew attention with the daring look she chose to say goodbye to a successful 2024 and welcome 2025.

The WNBA star appeared to have deleted her account after fans shared backlash over her appearance.
Before the clock struck midnight, Reese had shared a sultry selfie, which is still available on her active TikTok page, along with a couple of videos showing her striking a pose.
The 6ft 3in basketball star wowed in a mocha animal print maxi dress that was embellished with ruffle details and an extremely high split leg.
However, what really caught fans’ attention was the daring cut design of the bodycon dress.
The dress surprised fans with a cutout in the midsection that reached below her navel and was held just barely across the chest by a thin brown string.
While some fans gushed over the jaw-dropping outfit, praising Reese as “pretty” and “beautiful,” others weren’t as complimentary.
“This is disgusting, I’m sorry,” posted one particularly harsh critic, responding to a post on X, which shared Reese’s video.
“She has a lot of confidence in that chain,” commented another in the responses.
Meanwhile, a third baselessly claimed that Reese’s nipple was visible, writing, “It would be okay if you couldn’t literally see her areola.”
Fans brutally attacked the 22-year-old for the dress’s plunging neckline.
Others took issue with the outfit because they claimed that Reese had only worn the dress seeking attention.
‘Damn, that girl wants so much attention. It’s not funny anymore. Are you working on your game to be a better basketball player? That’s the real question,” said one social media user.
“This girl just wants more attention but she doesn’t want to joke lol,” another echoed, while a third chimed in and added, “Tell me you want attention without telling me.”
“I swear it’s going to go viral in everything but basketball,” wrote another.
After LSU’s 94-87 loss to Iowa in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament last year, Reese said he had to overcome off-court issues, including sexualization.
“I’m just trying to stay strong,” he told reporters. ‘I’ve been through a lot. I have seen a lot. I have been attacked so many times. Death threats, I have been sexualized, I have been threatened. I have been so many things and I have stood my ground every time.
‘…I’m still human. All of this has happened since I won the national championship and I said the other day that I haven’t been happy since.
However, after her risqué New Year’s Eve outfit, many fans criticized Reese for her previous comments.
Some social media users criticized Reese for trying to get attention.
Despite Reese’s right to wear whatever she wants, many surprisingly and unfairly suggested that she was opening herself up to sexualized comments by wearing the outfit.
Many asked: ‘Wasn’t she just saying that people sexulize (sic) her too much?’ or “Didn’t she say not to sexualize her?”
‘As always, she is half naked. But don’t sexualize her,” one user posted, while another sarcastically added: “Now no one dares to sexualize her.”
Reese also alleged on her podcast in September that rival Caitlin Clark’s fans had taken explicit AI-generated photos of her and sent them to her relatives.
‘On multiple occasions, people have created AI images of me naked. They have sent it to my relatives. My family members are like uncles and they send me messages like, ‘Are you naked on Instagram?’ Reese said. “It sucks to have to go through that and see other players have to go through that.”
