Angel Reese’s spectacular rookie season continues to shine as she broke the WNBA record for most rebounds in a single season.
On Sunday, the Chicago Sky star grabbed 19 rebounds in a loss to the Minnesota Lynx to bring her total to 418. Her 405th rebound came in the second quarter and broke Sylvia Fowles’ 404 set in 2018.
Fowles was drafted into the league in 2015. As a junior, she broke the record set by Jonquel Jones during her sophomore campaign the previous year by one rebound.
Reese’s historic feat came two days after he honored one of the game’s greatest rebounders, Dennis Rodman, by wearing his Detroit Pistons jersey on Friday.
The former LSU star would grab 11 rebounds in her 27th consecutive game with double-digit rebounds in a loss to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

Like Reese, Rodman was a rebounding force during his illustrious NBA career. In addition to two titles with the Pistons and three more with the Chicago Bulls, Rodman was a seven-time NBA rebounding champion.
He currently ranks 23rd on the NBA’s all-time rebounding rankings with 11,954 rebounds.
In addition to his impressive rebounding, Reese has been filling up the stat sheet in other departments.
Reese is averaging 13.2 points and 12.9 rebounds per game. She also has 23 double-doubles this season, 15 of them consecutive, another of her rookie achievements.

Rodman was known for his rebounding prowess, leading the NBA in rebounding seven times.
While Reese is performing well individually, the Sky are struggling, having lost six straight and seven of their last eight.
Chicago sits in eighth place in the league and fourth in the Eastern Conference with an 11-21 record and eight games remaining.
