Angel Reese shocked WNBA fans by announcing that her first season was over due to injury.

Angel Reese has revealed that her first WNBA season is over due to injury.

Reese announced the news in a sensational statement Saturday night, but did not specify what the exact issue was. Her status as a questionable player was listed on the team’s injury report prior to Sunday’s game against the Dallas Wings due to a wrist injury.

The Chicago Sky rookie wrote: “What a year. I never would have imagined the last basket of my rookie season would be a three-pointer, but maybe that’s what God was saying to me: ‘Let’s give them a taste of what they’ll see more of in year two.'”

‘Despite everything, I have proven that I belong in this league, even when no one else believed it. All I ever wanted was to get to the W and make an impact. I can confidently say that I have achieved that and I will strive to continue doing so.

‘I’m full of emotions now that I have a season-ending injury, but also filled with a lot of gratitude for what comes next.

Even though this is God’s time and not mine, I can finally give myself a physical and mental break. “God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers.” You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sidelines! And Unrible League, see you soon!

Reese played Friday night for the Sky and snapped their seven-game losing streak against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Reese finished with 24 points and 12 rebounds for her 26th double-double of the season, a record for a rookie.

Reese hit 9 of 15 shots, including a 3-pointer and all five of his free throws.

She spoke to the media after Friday’s win and seemed in high spirits, making no mention of any injuries.

But, speaking about the team’s slump, Reese said: “Adversity builds character. It’s very easy to just feel good and not go through things.”
