Ange Postecoglou has laughed at Opta’s supercomputer prediction that Tottenham have just a 0.1 per cent chance of winning the Premier League title.

The latest calculations this week showed that Spurs, who are currently fifth and seven points behind leaders Liverpool, have only the slimmest of chances.

Manchester City were heavy favourites, with a 66.2 per cent chance of winning a fourth consecutive title, while Liverpool’s odds were 26.1 per cent, Arsenal’s 7.4 per cent and Aston Villa’s odds. of 0.2 percent.

But Spurs’ Australian coach dismissed the prediction ahead of Saturday’s home game against Brighton.

‘A supercomputer! Does it go into a phone booth and transform into something other than a normal computer? Postecoglou said.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou ridiculed supercomputer Opta after it gave his team just a 0.1 per cent chance of winning the Premier League title.

‘What did you say, 0.1 percent? Then we had a chance. Let’s go for it. “There are no problems, there are no problems with that, we have a chance.”

Spurs topped the Premier League in early October after going unbeaten in their first 10 league games, winning seven of them.

But as injuries began to take their toll, Postecoglou’s side slowly slipped down the standings but remain on course to qualify for the Champions League next season.

They lost two points late when Jarrad Branthwaite scored a 94th-minute equalizer for Everton in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw and will be hoping to win again against Brighton.

Postecoglou will be boosted by the return of Son Heung-min following South Korea’s elimination from the Asian Cup, while Yves Bissouma is also returning to training after Mali were eliminated from the African Cup of Nations.

The Spurs manager believes his team’s results will improve now that the team is approaching full capacity again.

“It gives us the opportunity to put something into practice with our training, with the way we want to play our football, to see if we can go up another level or two or three between now and the end of the year,” he said. saying.

Postecoglou was boosted by the return of Son Heung-min (right) to training this week after South Korea was eliminated from the Asian Cup.

“We have 15 games left and we probably have the healthiest (team) roster since the beginning of the season.

‘That gives us that platform, but you still have to go out and perform. It doesn’t make it easier. It doesn’t give us any boost unless we take advantage of it.

‘Having additional bodies means that competition for places is also at a higher level, which is always good.

“I like it, not because people get complacent, it’s just that everyone tries to raise their level, which is good whether you’re on or off the team.”

“All of those factors give us a platform to finish the season strong.”
