Comedian Andy Lee has shared an update on the ambitious renovation of his $5 million mansion.

The comedian, 42, and his fiancée Rebecca Harding, 34, are restoring a derelict 150-year-old riverside mansion in Hawthorn, Melbourne.

The couple is spending a whopping $5 million to return the palatial home to its former glory.

Andy and Rebecca have big plans for their Italianate mansion (known as Ravenswood), and the planned renovation worth an estimated $5 million began last year.

The comedian has been hard at work on the abandoned Melbourne mansion he bought in 2021 in a The Block-style rebuild.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Andy revealed there was still a lot of work to do as they had recently discovered water damage.

He shared a photo showing a large section of the abode that had to be destroyed due to damaged floorboards.

‘The huge water damage has rotted all the floorboards so they had to be removed. Meanwhile, huge laminated wood supports support the roof,” Andy explained.

He joked that they were considering not replacing the upper floor boards so their dog Henri would have room to grow.

“It has been suggested that our dog Henri (the tall terrier) could grow to be taller than a giraffe,” he joked.

‘As a precaution, we can leave the ceiling height at the current 8.5 m. Hopefully that will be enough for her.”

He also shared a series of photos showing a large excavation outside the property.

Can you dig it? Yes We Can,’ he boasted in a not-so-subtle nod to Bob The Builder.

Well, Bec and I didn’t dig it, but the experts did and we’re right halfway down the basement.

He continued: “The property drops so steeply that initially it is a 7.7m drop which will start to recover as you move towards the Yarra.”

‘If we keep digging, I’m told we’ll find a golf simulator buried somewhere underneath. It must be nice.

Andy and Rebecca gained council approval for their development application in June last year.

Plans for the site include adding a second building that will be connected by a tunnel to the original Italian mansion, which was built around 1876.

Other highlights planned for the 1,950-square-meter building include a home theater, a gym, a swimming pool and a “mega bedroom.”

In a statement to the Herald Sun, Boroondara Council confirmed it had issued a decision notice to grant planning permission for the Yarra Grove address.
