Stockmeyer ready-to-eat sliced proscuitto, sold by ConSup and made in Germany, was recalled Wednesday because a portion failed to comply with safety inspections.

Nearly 86,000 pounds of sliced ham have been recalled in eight states, health officials announced.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), a branch of the USDA, said Wednesday that New Jersey-based ConSup North America Inc is recalling its ready-to-eat Stockmeyer sliced proscuitto, which was produced in Germany.

The affected products were shipped to retail stores in California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington.

The products were manufactured from September 25, 2023 to March 6, 2024.

Meat, poultry and egg products made in other countries and imported into the U.S. must meet all U.S. safety standards, what the USDA calls “equivalence.”

Germany’s Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety notified FSIS that the German company H Klümper GmbH & Co KG produced “a portion” of the identified products without inspecting them according to US standards.
