Terrifying drivers witnessed the moment when a lightning flash hit a telegraph pole and blew it up.
The group shouted as the bolt shot on the post, just a few yards from a busy intersection in Holsworthy, south-western Sydney.
A female passenger jokingly told her friends that she loved them while the rain fell on them.
The dashcam images showed the air flash a silvery white and heard the rumble of the thunder before the single stroke came down.
No one was on the road in the residential area and the park area except for the car and another motorcycle, which went safely through the explosion.
Users of social media quickly spoke to the cyclist for his unwavering determination to keep on driving through the storm.
