The information was shared in a new TikTok video made by Houston-based Dr. Emma Qureshey, which has already reached over 100,000 views.

Dr. Qureshey has nearly a decade of experience, having graduated from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in 2015. according to his biography.

She began the clip by explaining why you should never pee in the shower or pee standing up, even though it can be tempting at times.

“I know there are people who promote this because it saves 5,000 gallons of water a year or something like that, and they tell you it saves time and all that stuff,” the doctor began.

“But it’s one, not very hygienic, but the most important thing is that it will destroy your pelvic floor,” he revealed about urinating in the shower and urinating standing up.

“But it’s one, not very hygienic, but more importantly than that, it will destroy your pelvic floor,” she revealed.

The pelvic floor is the group of muscles that form a ‘sling’ or ‘hammock’ in the pelvic area, depending on The National Institute of Child Health and Development – So if you pee in the shower, you could weaken those muscles.

The expert added that urinating in the shower can even create mental associations with running water, meaning that if you hear the water running, you might think you need to run to the bathroom.

The next tip on her list of things not to do was to put things in her vagina to treat the infection if they weren’t prescribed by a medical professional.

“I’m talking about things like garlic cloves, yogurt and other things so I don’t even want to know,” Qureshey said.

“Those things are not going to treat whatever infection you’re suffering from and could make things worse,” he warned viewers.

Qureshey recommended that people talk to their doctor before “poking” anything into their nether regions.

Finally, the obstetrician-gynecologist said that she would never avoid going to the doctor for a symptom because of ’embarrassment’.

“I would never ignore any worrying or bothersome symptoms out of shame,” she shared.

“I promise you, we’ve seen it all, we’ve heard it all, we’ve smelled it all, all the things, we don’t care, we’re not judging, talk to your doctor,” the expert urged.

The information comes after another obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Jennifer Lincoln, revealed why it is physically impossible for women’s bodies to “recover” immediately after giving birth.

In a viral clip, which was posted last year, Dr. Jennifer advised women to block haters who pressure them into trying to get into their ‘pre-pregnancy jeans in just a few weeks.’

He showed an example of what a woman’s uterus was like before pregnancy and what it was like after – a considerable difference.
