An active shooter is on the loose in Kentucky after ‘numerous people’ were hit by gunfire near a highway, suspect flees into the woods

Several people were shot in Kentucky near Interstate 75 after a gunman opened fire and fled into the woods.

Authorities have launched an urgent search after the suspect, who has not been identified, escaped in Laurel County, near the town of London, Kentucky.

It is unclear how many people were shot and authorities have not yet commented on their conditions.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said on Sunday that his office is “aware” of the active shooter situation, while urging locals to “avoid the area.”
