In an unfortunate incident, an 11-year-old girl died on Sunday, after she lost consciousness on a Turkish Airlines flight that took off from Istanbul towards New York before it had to make an emergency landing in Hungary.
Despite the efforts of a doctor who was among the passengers and the attempts of medical service providers at Budapest Airport to enforce it, the girl did not survive and died on the spot.
Turkish Airlines said in a statement that the child, whose identity was not disclosed, had a sudden illness during flight number “TK003”, which was affiliated with it, bound for the United States.
Immediately after the girl was ill, one of the flight attendants asked the passengers if there was a doctor among them to come forward to help while the crew was preparing for an emergency landing at Budapest Franz List International Airport.
A spokesman for the airport stated that a medical worker did everything he could to save the girl’s life, saying, “Despite the quick and professional intervention, unfortunately, they were unable to save her life.”
The girl’s relatives remained in Budapest, while the flight resumed its planned route several hours later.
