Amy Klobuchar is criticized for failing to prosecute the police officer after George Floyd’s 2006 death with fatal shootings
Amy Klobuchar’s record as a prosecutor has come under fire after George Floyd’s police-related death in Minneapolis this week, as Democratic Minnesota Senator is on Joe Biden’s list of potential vice presidents to run with him in the upcoming 2020 presidential election.
While convicting the murder, Klobuchar allowed another case involving the same officer who fatally shot Floyd, Derek Chauvin, to be heard by a grand jury instead of taking the charges on her own.
Chauvin was one of six officers who shot and killed Wayne Reyes, 42, in 2006 after the man reportedly pointed a gun at the police. The grand jury ruled that the use of force was justified.

There were more than two dozen police fatalities who were not charged by Klobuchar during her tenure as a district attorney. Those cases were again left to a grand jury, which was common practice, the report said StarTribune.
Biden has remained a mom so far over whom he will choose as his running mate. He promised to choose a woman.
However, he is also under pressure to choose a candidate to resonate with black voters.
Klobuchar, herself a former Democratic candidate for president, was believed to make that connection ineffective after her prosecutor in Hennepin Count was criticized after several police shootings.
“We need to close the enthusiasm gap Biden is currently facing. We need a VP choice that increases the campaign’s capacity to reach these key audiences. Black women are central. Brown women are central. And Klobuchar doesn’t do that, ”said Aimee Allison, president of the She the People political group, against StarTribune.
Allison had organized the first presidential forum targeting colored women, the news report reports.

One of the criticisms that came online was a tweet from Lacy Johnson, a Republican-approved black candidate against Minnesota Congressman Ilhan Omar, who asked in a tweet why Chauvin was not prosecuted.
Klobuchar had been skeptical of her qualifications to be Biden’s vice president before Floyd’s death.
Critics said she might not speak to the Left enough to help defeat President Donald Trump, and especially after the backlash she drew Myron Burrell’s conviction.

Questions have been raised about the case of a black man, Burrell, for the life of 11-year-old Tyesha Edwards in 2002.
The young girl was killed by a stray bullet while doing homework at her dining table.
Several black Minnesota activist groups asked Klobuchar to stop the race due to revelations that Burrell may have been wrongfully convicted.

Klobuchar had prosecuted the case.
When asked about it on Fox News earlier this year while she was still running to become the Democratic presidential candidate, she dodged the question.
Klobuchar then said, “I didn’t know about this new evidence. No, I didn’t know about this new evidence until I saw this report, ”she said of an Associated Press investigation into the matter.
“I couldn’t have it. I haven’t been in the office for 12 years. ‘
