A mother of three found dead in south Sydney was planning to fly to Lebanon for a holiday with her children after gaining Australian citizenship.
The body of Amira Moghnieh, 30, was discovered in a house in Bexley just before 6pm on Wednesday.
Her estranged husband, Ahmad Hodroj, 39, was arrested and charged at the scene.
It now emerged that Ms. Moghnieh had celebrated obtaining citizenship and an Australian passport in recent days and planned to take her children to Lebanon, where she was born, to see her family.
The death of Ms. Moghnieh has caused great emotion in the family.
Their children are between two and six years old.
“From the greed of this world, my sister is gone, gone,” said her sister.
Daily Mail Australia understands that Hodroj and Ms Moghnieh had been separated for a year when she arrived at their home on Wednesday evening to collect their young children.
His cousin Fadi said Hodroj wanted to talk to Moghnieh about their divorce settlement, which was due to be finalized by the end of this month.
“He has three houses and she was going to keep some of his property,” Fadi said.

Daily Mail Australia understands that Hodroj is an employee of a company that works for Qantas. He is not a Qantas employee and has not been for some years.
A former colleague said he was “very surprised” to hear the news.
‘His wife used to bring him lunch at work. She sometimes shared it. She was a good cook,” she said.
Fadi said Ms Moghnieh did not have many family members in Australia, but she did have many friends, some of whom have left tributes to the young mother online.
‘May your soul rest in heaven, my love,’ wrote one.
‘You will always be remembered in our hearts forever.’
