Amir Khan has been criticized for boasting about buying another house with cash, as needy Britons struggle to make ends meet amid the current cost of living crisis.

The former lightweight and light welterweight boxing champion, who is estimated to be worth £31million, already owns luxurious properties in the UK and the UAE.

But Khan, 38, felt the wrath of social media followers on Monday by appearing to boast about the latest addition to his growing property portfolio: a new luxury home in Dubai.

After signing all the necessary paperwork and getting the keys, he posted: “God is great – another property has been added to my portfolio.” Suffer, invest, win.’

He added: ‘All my investments are paid in cash. I have never been in debt.

The post sparked a mixed reaction among followers, with some accusing Khan, father of her children Lamaisah, Alayna and Zaviya with his American wife Faryal Makhdoom, of behaving childishly.

‘Why is showing this considered cool?’ wrote one aggrieved follower.

A second added: “You’re not 12 to post this stuff and brag.”

While a third fumed: ‘For whose benefit are you posting this?’ Mind your business.

Pointing to Khan’s checkered boxing career, during which he lost six of his 40 professional fights, a fourth joked: “I hope the windows are made of better glass than your chin.”

Elsewhere, a fifth wrote: ‘Not sure why you advertise your purchases! Keep it to yourself! No one needs to know what you have… I thought this the last time you posted your watches. It’s unnecessary.’

Khan was previously criticized for flaunting his wealth in 2020 after boasting on social media that he had just bought a luxurious family holiday home in Dubai.

The former boxer, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, shared photographs of him standing outside and a video of a tour of the mansion.

Khan bought the property, which has a stone staircase, marble floors and a stunning living-dining room, with the help of his friend Maaz Jethwa, who founded the firm New Door in the United Arab Emirates.

Khan’s latest post sparked a mixed response from followers on Instagram, with some calling the former boxer “childish”.

Khan said: “I just bought my family a holiday home in Dubai” and “thanks to Maaz Jethwa for finding me the perfect place.” Miss Makhdoom also thanked New Door.

But his Instagram and Facebook followers criticized him for showing off during the COVID-19 crisis at a time when unemployment had risen to 4.9 percent.

One follower, Robert France, said: ‘Why do you need to post here when times are so hard for so many people?’ Have respect for families who can’t even afford to eat.’

Months earlier, Khan showed off his fleet of flashy cars, including a £300,000 red Lamborghini Aventador and a £350,000 black Rolls Royce Phantom.

She shared a video of them complaining about the rain outside her home, just a week after showing off her £100,000 Richard Mille 32 designer watch on social media.
