The 10 most expensive ZIP codes have been revealed, with median home prices in the Bay Area and the Hamptons topping $8 million.
Although overall median home sales prices declined in 2023, some of the country’s top ZIP codes have risen to the top, according to an annual ranking by Property Shark.
The town of Atherton in the Bay Area and the village of Sagaponack in Southampton ranked the first two places on the ranking list.
Atherton had a median home sales price of $8.3 million, while two of the ten cities tied at $4.5 million for sixth place.

Miami Beach, Florida (pictured) took third place, as the city raised $5.5 million.
Six more California cities were added to the list, along with one in Washington, Florida, and a second in New York.
The most expensive ZIP code in 2023 was Atherton, a city in San Mateo County, about 40 miles from San Francisco.
Atherton has a population of 6,499 and is 73 percent white, while just over 18 percent are Asian.
According to the Census Bureau, Atherton is well above the highest median household income of $250,000 and has reported a poverty rate of just three percent.
Atherton is filled with single-family homes that have had to follow the one-acre minimum lot requirement that was implemented in the 1920s.
Sagaponack, New York, ranked as the second most expensive ZIP code in the country with a median sales price of $8,075,000.
The town is located in a town in the Hamptons of Long Island and has seen a 40 percent increase in its sales value since last year, when it reached $5.75 million.
Property Shark reported that this is “the first time since 2016” that both Atherton and Sagaponack almost tied each other.
Miami Beach, Florida, came in third place, as the city raised $5.5 million, specifically on Fisher Island.
The popular Sunshine State city has continually maintained its face status, ranking fourth in the 2022 report.
Santa Barbara, another Golden State city, ranked fourth with a median sales price of $5 million.

The city of Beverly Hills in Los Angeles (pictured) came in at number five with $4.8 million with its famous 90210 zip code.

The median home price in Stinson Beach, California (pictured), was $4.5 million, ranking sixth.

Water Mill, New York (pictured) also came in at sixth place with a median home price of $4.5 million.
The city is home to the exclusive enclave of Montecito, home to well-known celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Santa Barbara first earned a spot in the top 10 in 2021 when it ranked seventh with a median sales price of $4.1 million.
The city of Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, came in fifth place with $4.8 million with its famous 90210 zip code.
Known as the home of the rich and famous, the median home price in Beverly Hills actually dropped six percent compared to the previous year.
Both Stinson Beach, California and Water Mill, New York ranked number six and had a median home price of $4.5 million.
Stinson Beach, a community in Marin County, was the home of the late Senator Dianne Feinstein.
His house was recently estimated to cost nearly $8.5 million, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
This was Stinson Beach’s first time in the top ten, having ranked 21st last year.
Water Mill, just four miles from Sagaponack, saw a 22 percent increase in its median home price over the past year.
On the other side of the country, Newport Beach, California, ranked number seven with a median home price of $4,495,000.
The Orange County city contributed only five ZIP codes to the report’s full list of America’s 100 Most Elite ZIP Codes.
Median sales in the city have ranged from $2.49 million to $4.5 million.
In eighth place was Santa Monica, California, with $4,489,000, which represented a two percent price increase compared to 2022.
Santa Monica is a popular resort-style city in Los Angeles.

The city saw an eight per cent decline compared to 2022, when it was three places higher at number six.
The last and 10th most expensive ZIP code in the US was Rancho Santa Fe, California, which is located in San Diego County.
The median home sales price in the city was $4,248,000, which decreased only one percent compared to the previous year.
The San Diego community first made the top ten list last year, when its median price was $4,275.00.
