A trendy French restaurant in New York City is serving up an off-menu cheeseburger that’s getting rave reviews, for those lucky enough to get one.
Le Dive, a popular wine bar on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, introduced its ‘Dive Burger’ last month.
One food critic has called it “the best burger in New York City.” But there’s a problem: the kitchen only produces 12 of them per day.
This ultra-exclusive item is served “if you know it, you know it.” You cannot order online as it is an off-menu fare.
Le Dive, a trendy French wine bar in New York City, has started offering a secret ‘Dive Burger’, but only 12 lucky diners will be able to enjoy it each day.
The eight-ounce burger is topped with au poivre sauce, emmental cheese and watercress tossed in a Dijon shallot vinaigrette. Diners have left rave reviews, including one TikToker who called it “perfect.”
The burger will cost diners $26, but it’s considerably more substantial than Le Dive’s other meal, which features mostly small plates.
And unlike other New York City restaurants that serve “secret burgers” to order, Le Dive limits the amount the kitchen prepares each day.
The burger features an eight-ounce patty on a fluffy brioche bun, accompanied by sides such as au poivre sauce, emmental cheese, and watercress tossed in a Dijon shallot vinaigrette.
It comes with a side of thin-cut fries and will cost diners $26.
The burger has garnered attention online and garnered rave reviews from those lucky enough to try it.
One food blogger noted that she placed her order “as soon as she sat down,” fearing it would sell out.
Another content creator filmed herself going to try “by far the most unique burger in New York City” and offered advice to those who would like to do the same.
“Pro tip: They don’t currently serve them at the bar, so make sure you sit at a table,” he said.
She claimed the Dive Burger was so good it left her “speechless.”
The burger was announced in a promotional Instagram post on March 27, just five days before it began serving. It must be requested in person and by special order.
Le Dive is best known for its natural wine, which starts at $68 a bottle and can go up to $82.
The Lower East Side restaurant’s heavier dishes include roast chicken and French fries.
Le Dive’s menu consists mainly of smaller plates, which, combined with the limited supply, could explain the high price.
Other offerings include canned sardines, radishes and butter, and baguettes spread with jam and fresh fruit.
However, there are equally expensive dishes including a roast chicken for $25, steak and fries for $34, and a half-dozen raw oysters for $27. Bottles of wine start at $68 and can cost up to $82 plus tax.
The Dive Burger was introduced in an Instagram update on March 27, five days before it began arriving on diners’ tables.
It’s simply the latest secret burger to hit Big Apple restaurants.
The Brindle Room, an East Village gastropub, offers the ‘Sebastian’s Steakhouse Burger’ to more in-the-know diners.
While not offered on the dinner menu, the burger, topped with American cheese and caramelized onions and served on a toasted white bun, is one of the most popular dishes.
Secret burgers have even appeared at restaurant chains like Hillstone, the upscale restaurant that closed its Midtown location last year.
The rest of the Rose Hill location serves a ‘Hickory Burger,’ a grilled beef patty topped with shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onion, a rasher of Canadian bacon, and the namesake BBQ sauce.
