Three picturesque mountain metropolises have been named among the top 10 cities to buy luxury homes.
Pittsfield, Massachusetts; Asheville, North Carolina; and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho have all skyrocketed in the Wall Street Journal x Realtor.com classifications this year.
Each quarter, real estate experts identify the most attractive metropolitan areas for luxury home purchases based on local economy, housing market and quality of life.
Joel Berner, senior economist at Realtor.com, said the three mountain towns named this month offer “easy access to outdoor recreation” and “a high quality of life away from the hustle and bustle of big cities and the coast.”
“With interest rates hovering around 7% for most of 2024, one can see a desire for affordability even in the luxury housing segment,” he added.

The picturesque town in the Berkshire Highlands jumped from No. 25 in the luxury housing rankings last quarter to No. 5 this time around.
