America’s Got Talent: Simon Cowell presses Golden Buzzer for singer Sara James, 13, from Poland

Simon Cowell pressed his Golden Buzzer for singer Sara James on Tuesday’s episode of America’s Got Talent on NBC sending her straight to the live shows.

The 13-year-old singer from a small village in Poland shocked the judges with her emotional performance of the Billie Eilish song Lovely.

‘I hope you are going to like it,’ Sara said before her audition.

‘I’ve got a good feeling about you for some reason,’ Simon, 62, said before she started.

‘That was incredible,’ host Terry Crews, 53, shouted when she finished the song.

‘Sara, we have heard a lot of singers over the years but wow there are those moments,’ Simon said. ‘This wasn’t perfect. However, you have a real star glow about you.’

Simon asked her if this was her first time to America and she said yes.

‘It must be such an unbelievable feeling doing this in front of an American audience because I’m guessing this is where you dreamt of performing,’ Simon said. ‘I could remember when I came to America for the first time, and that was 20 or so years ago. That was a moment I will never forget and I want to make this a moment for you to remember forever.’

Simon then hit his Golden Buzzer and Sara cried as a gold confetti flew down around her. She hugged her mother and then Simon took the stage and congratulated her.

‘I’m so grateful,’ Sara said backstage.

‘See you at the live show,’ Simon said.

The Brown Brothers, Nate and Gabriel Brown, two Navy veterans who are also autistic, were the first performers of the two-hour show. They had the judges pull cards with names on them and then immediately composed and sang a song on the spot based on the cards.

‘I loved it,’ Heidi Klum, 49, said when they finished. ‘You gave it your all and you got everything spot on.’

Next up was Max Ostler, 18, from Sydney, Australia. He danced a solo lyrical piece for his audition.

‘It’s moments like this that make me fall in love with what I do,’ Max said to Simon when he finished.

‘You came halfway around the world to show us something and it was magic,’ Simon said. ‘All the time I was thinking if this was my son, who did the same thing, I would be swelling with pride right now.’

All the judges voted him on.

During one of the commercial breaks, Simon Facetimed with his son Eric, eight, and told him that he loved him.

A brother knife-throwing act called Blade 2 Blade, consisting of Tyrone and Michael Laner, then had the judges on the edge of their seats. The two brothers angrily threw knives that barely missed at each other. They also did the act while blindfolded, while hanging upside down, and while spinning.

‘That was amazing,’ Sofia said when they finished. ‘I hated it because it’s so good.’

‘I was scared,’ Heidi said. ‘It was frightening.’

As the audience chanted, Simon took the stage to let the brothers throw knives at him. He asked them first if they liked him and both the brothers said yes.

‘I guess it’s safer than being on a bike,’ Howie quipped, referencing Simon’s e-bike accident.

As Simon stood in the middle, the two brothers threw blades that flew by narrowly missing him.

All the judges voted them on.

Jack Williams, a ventriloquist from Indianapolis, Indiana, went next. He performed with a stuffed bunny called Foster and wowed the judges switching voices with the bunny.

The judges gave him a standing ovation.

‘You are fantastic,’ Heidi said.

‘You are not only a ventriloquist but you are an amazing comedian,’ Howie said. ‘You are amazing.’

Simon told him it was one of the best first auditions that they had ever had. All the judges voted him on. The audience gave him a standing ovation.

Monique, 31, and Stefani, 29, a dance duo, who performed as the Duo Rag Dolls took the stage. They both wore pink dresses with heavily made up faces. The audience booed for them to be voted off and all the judges agreed.

They blamed each other for the act not going well and then shocked the judges by pushing, slapping and fighting each other until security took the stage and appeared to be pulling them apart. One of them grabbed the other and kept pushing her head into the judges buzzer. Their wigs fell off and revealed that they were actually the famous wrestling sisters.

‘It’s Nikki and Brie Bella,’ Terry shouted.

‘Simon, was that extreme enough for you,’ Nikki Bella, a previous judge on the show, said of the prank audition.

‘You are very naughty, you two,’ Simon said.

Nicky said she decided a week earlier that she wanted to prank Simon and put together this act with her sister.

‘They really got me,’ Simon said of Bella’s prank.

Oleksandr Yenivatov, a Ukrainian, who performed with his wife, wowed the judges with his scary act. Simon initially gave them an X but then later took his X back.

‘It was romantic,’ Sofia said. ‘I want to see more of you guys.’

All the judges voted them on.

Later in the show, Terry announced that Howie was not feeling well and would not join them. Terry said without Howie that two yes votes would let the acts advance.

Urban Crew Flyers, a Filipino dance breakdancing and acrobatic crew, took the stage and performed their synchronized act next. They did multiple flips over each other during their dance.

‘It was just perfection,’ Simon said. ‘You’ve got a real shot of being in the finals after this.’

All the judges voted them on.

Ella Harper, 10, from Somerset, England took the stage and performed the Spiritbox heavy metal song Holy Roller. Her father Jake took Howie’s seat at the judge’s table to watch her sing.

All the judges applauded when she finished.

‘This was unexpected,’ Heidi said.

‘It’s like you have a monster inside,’ Sofia said.

Stand-up comedian Hayden Kristal shared with Terry that she had been born deaf and that this show was her mother’s favorite. She took the stage and at first performed her act with just sign language.

‘I want to see you more,’ Heidi said.

All the judges voted her on.

The last act of the night was the NFL Players Choir, a singing group made up of former NFL players. They took the stage and performed the Bill Withers song Lean On Me for the judges.

‘Touchdown!’ Terry screamed when they finished.

Simon asked them to sing the chorus for him a cappella.

The judges gave them a standing ovation and voted them on.

‘You harmonized beautifully together,’ Heidi said.

‘I really love you guys,’ Simon said. ‘I could tell you that you really want to win and I love that.’

America’s Got Talent will return next Tuesday on NBC.
