A confused American woman has been mocked online after she admitted she couldn’t understand the idea of the seasons occurring at opposite times of the year in Australia and the US.
Jenna Lu has shared a bizarre video on TikTok revealing how the seasons work in Australia “keeps her awake at night”.
In Australia, summer occurs around Christmas time while winter runs from June to August, the opposite of the northern hemisphere.
The video has been viewed nearly a million times, with many viewers hysterical by Ms. Lu’s admission that she couldn’t understand how winter plays out in the American summer.

“I need someone from Australia to explain this to me because I don’t understand how it works,” Ms Lu said at the start of the conference. video.
“I learned recently in Australia that it is winter right now. Right now it’s August in America and for you it’s winter.
“For me, June, July and August are summer months.
“So I’m just confused because, first of all, you always call it August, and second, August, if you call it that, is it a winter month for you?”
She said she was sure many other Americans were as confused as she was.
Ms. Lu was also baffled that Halloween took place in the spring, asking if Australians would wear “spring flowers in the fall?”
“For us, in the fall, we have pumpkins and apples because they’re in season, but in the spring, for you, they wouldn’t be in season, so you don’t have pumpkins on Halloween?” ” she asked.
She then asked about summer in Australia and how the festive season is marked differently in December.
Ms Lu struggled to understand the winter season as she tried to compare August, which is a winter month in Australia, to summer in the United States.
“When you celebrate Christmas, do all of your guys’ marketing materials feature Santa dressed in a bathing suit? ” she says.
“Do you still have traditional Christmas dishes, like for winter? Like hot chocolate?
“Every time I think about it, my brain wants to die because it’s so confusing to me, because everything seems to be the other way around for you guys.”
She then made a drawing comparing the seasons in the southern and northern hemispheres.
Countless TikTokers took the opportunity to poke fun at Ms Lu, with many puzzled by her confusion.
