An American woman has died after the replica of a Viking ship she was travelling on capsized during a tourist trip to Norway.
Six people were on board the ship, which had left the Faroe Islands four days earlier, but only five reportedly emerged in an inflatable life raft after it sank on Tuesday.
The body of the American woman, whose name has not been released, was found Wednesday morning near the spot where the boat capsized.
The ship sent out a distress signal on Tuesday, but a helicopter in the area determined it was a false alarm, the Norwegian outlet said. VG reported.
About an hour after the initial distress signal was issued, a second alert triggered a wider search of the area, about 60 miles off the Norwegian coast, that included two helicopters and a lifeboat.
