An American woman has sparked outrage for eating fish and chips with her hands during a visit to London.
Allison Kuch, from Orange County in California, said she flew “all the way” to the UK to try the British delicacy for the first time.
He went to the Mayfair Chippy after seeing it on Instagram and explained the name to his TikTok followers, clarifying: “I eat fish and chippys.”
Allison, 29, a mother of one, was clearly impressed with her food and said it was the “best fish” she had ever tasted after trying it in a video.
She explained that she had only ever had fish and chips from McDonald’s before, so she was eager to try it the traditional way.
But his British fans were horrified by the way he ate the fish, scooping up the entire fillet in his hands as if it were a gigantic chicken nugget.

Allison dangled the steak in the air and said, ‘Look at this fish and chips! Are we kidding?
‘I flew all the way here for this. This is officially the best fish I’ve ever tasted.’
The British were surprised that Allison had not chosen to cut her fish with a knife and fork.
They wrote on social media: ‘Do Americans on TikTok love eating fish and chips with their hands?’ Because? Are you in Mayfair? Didn’t anyone look at you wrong? That’s crazy, but I guess go away lol;
‘The knife and fork were on the table’;
‘I’m dying for you to pick it up with your fingers’;
“I love it when Americans visit the UK, buy fish and chips and eat it with their hands like it’s a giant chicken nugget.”
‘The streets say we don’t eat fish and chips with our hands. Why didn’t I already know?
However, others staunchly defended their right to eat however they wanted.
They added: ‘Are you… not supposed to do it?’;
‘He obviously eats fish and chips with his hands’;
‘Bean toast Twitter always has a lot to say. But how else are you supposed to eat it? It’s definitely finger food.

On the way to the restaurant, Allison explained: ‘I’m craving fish and chips. I’ve never had fish and chips so I don’t know how much I crave it. The only fish and chips I’ve ever had was from McDonald’s.
After sitting down, he scooped up the chips with his fingers, before doing the same with the fish, dipping it in the tartar sauce and squeezing in the lemon.
He also tried Shepherd’s Pie for the first time, luckily this time using a fork.
However, she wasn’t very impressed, concluding: “It just tastes like loaded mashed potatoes.”
