American comedian Ari Shaffir stunned The Project hosts on Wednesday night by recalling a humiliating incident in which he suffered explosive diarrhea while visiting a Sydney landmark.

The comedian, 50, who is currently performing his latest show across the country, told presenters that the incident occurred while he was climbing the city’s famous bridge.

‘I shit my pants on the Sydney Harbor Bridge. I had been there for about 20 minutes when I felt the first pain of diarrhea,” Ari began.

“They tie you up and you can’t turn around. I had to cross my legs several times due to effort, it’s happened to all of us!’

Horrified Waleed Aly, 45, intervened to clarify that this had never happened to him and Shaffir then asked him point blank if he had ever had diarrhea in public.

‘Not at a landmark!’ Aly responded.

‘It was very painful, but I was going well until there was a staircase and I had to bend my knees. There was a horrible sound and the face of an embarrassed foreigner.

“My pants filled up, it was terrible,” Ari added.

Co-presenter Sarah Harris, 42, looked absolutely stunned by Shaffir’s rude admission and shouted: ‘No you didn’t!’

Meanwhile, Nick Cody and Georgie Tunny, 32, were seen covering their mouths in disgust.

Shaffir is currently presenting his comedy show Wrong Side of History across Australia.

His next performance will be in Adelaide on Friday 24 May and then he will head to Sydney to perform on Saturday 1 June.
