American Bluey fans were left confused after discovering what Australians call a well-known store.
Viewers of the globally popular children’s animated show went into a frenzy as they re-watched the popular TV Shop episode from the show’s third season.
In the episode, Bluey and Bingo have fun playing with the CCTV cameras at a store called Pharmacy Warehouse.
However, American fans were left confused after hearing Bingo refer to the pharmacy as a “chemist” in what is a well-known expression in Australia.
On Facebook, an American asked: ‘Random question for Australians… are pharmacists often referred to as chemists, like Bandit did on TV Shop?’
Australians then took to the comments to clarify that “chemist” is a widely used term for a pharmacy and expressed disbelief at the confusion.

In fact, the term is so well known in Australia that one of the country’s major pharmacy chains is called Chemist Warehouse.
‘Yes, get your medicine at the pharmacy! As well as perfumes, gummies, makeup and much more, especially from the pharmacy store,” said one user.
“Yes, I’m going to the pharmacy,” commented another.
A third clarified: ‘Yes, but actually either is used in Australia and New Zealand. So you could say “I need something from the pharmacy” or something from the pharmacy, both are correct and common.
“We have Chemist Warehouse and Priceline Pharmacy so they both work,” another added.
‘In most cases, pharmacy and pharmacy are synonyms. “I always say I go to the pharmacy, but the person who gives me my medications is a pharmacist,” added a third.
Another Australian weighed in on the debate, as he stated that most people call the store a pharmacy, while the medicine counter inside is usually referred to as a pharmacy.
It is not only in Australia that the word chemical is frequently used, as it is also commonly heard in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Although Bluey is an Australian animated show, it has become very popular in the United States and has topped its ratings for two years in a row.
The animated children’s series has been at the top of the top ten most-streamed shows in the US for 112 weeks.
The figures were compiled earlier this month by Nielsen Ratings, which tracks viewership in the U.S., according to the comic website.
And according to the Nielsen survey, Bluey has been among the top ten streaming shows in the US since October 2022.
Bluey airs in more than 60 countries and all three seasons of the Emmy Award-winning cartoon are available on ABC iview.
The award-winning animated series first hit screens in 2018 and has since become a favorite with kids and parents.
Last month, BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company announced that they will bring Bluey’s first animated feature film to the big screen, which will be written and directed by the show’s creator, Joe Brumm.
“I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on The Sign in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film seems like a natural extension of that,” Brumm said.
‘I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical film. “I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.”
