An American Airlines plane was diverted to Pittsburgh after a lightning strike.

Flight 4642 departed Columbus, Ohio at 6:55 a.m. EST Tuesday morning bound for Boston, Massachusetts. It was operated by the regional airline Regional Jet.

But the plane instead landed in Pittsburgh at 7:58 a.m. after the crew reported the plane had been struck by lightning.

All 74 passengers and crew on board landed safely at Pittsburgh International Airport, a KDKA journalist reports Paul Rasmussen.

“They report being struck by lightning,” said an air check audio shared by the local radio station.

After the plane landed, firefighters found no visible damage to the plane: an Embraer 175 designed for short flights.

Regional Jet told DailyMail.com that the flight was diverted “out of an abundance of caution following a possible lightning strike shortly after departure from CMH.”

“The flight landed without incident, taxied to the gate under its own power and we are transferring to another aircraft to complete the flight to BOS,” the statement said.

“Maintenance is looking at the aircraft now.”

It comes after several air travel incidents this month.

A Delta plane nearly collided with a private jet at Los Angeles airport on Friday.

The chartered Embraer E135 plane was carrying the Gonzaga University men’s basketball team and had just landed from Spokane, Washington.

The plane was about to cross the runway when air traffic controllers saw the Delta plane speeding down the path and frantically ordered the Embraer to stop.

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) investigators have launched an investigation into the incident.
