American actor LaKeith Stanfield, 31, landed in Sydney on Saturday ahead of filming his new Amazon crime thriller Play Dirty.
Stanfield’s arrival in Australia comes weeks after his nanny sued him over a “heartbreaking” trip to New York City, where she claims she spent sleepless nights due to her “constant demands.”
Stanfield and his wife Kasmere hired Monica Sawyer to work as a nanny for their newborn, paying a fee of $500 a day while they traveled to the Big Apple.
The couple, who live in Los Angeles, traveled to New York from October 31 to November 7 last year and Sawyer was there to care for their son 24 hours a day.
The Atlanta star was spotted at Sydney Airport on Saturday flanked by staff pushing her luggage on a trolley.
He was seen walking through the bustling arrivals terminal towards a car parked outside.
But Sawyer claims he was not given time to go to the bathroom, eat or even shower, nor was he paid anything for his time.
Sawyer also claims she was inundated with constant requests from Oscar nominee Stanfield and his wife.
The lawsuit seen by DailyMail.com states: “During her employment with Defendants, Plaintiff was never compensated for the approximately eight days and 24 hours of care she provided to Defendants’ baby, not even one dollar.”
Stanfield was nominated for an Oscar in the best supporting category for his performance in Judas and the Black Messiah in 2021.
He is also known for Disney’s Haunted Mansion, Sorry to Bother You, and his work on the FX series Atlanta.
