If you are building a gaming PC, you must truthfully use a separate graphics card or GPU (graphics processing unit) instead of relying on a CPU's integrated graphics card to run games that are as demanding as Middle Earth : Shadow of War.
Yet it is possible to perform less graphic intense games on an integrated GPU if your processor has one. In this area, AMD is the clear winner, thanks to the release of the Ryzen 5 2400G that combines powerful discrete Vega graphics that surpass Intel's graphical technology – it can even run Battlefield V at 30 fps.
But as we mentioned earlier, Intel has officially started sending its high-end H-series mobile CPU chips with AMD graphics on board. This in turn means that heavier laptops powered by Intel can now be thinner and the associated silicon footprints will be more than 50% smaller, according to vice president Christopher Walker of Intel's client computer group.
All this is accomplished using Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge (EMIB) technology, along with a new artificial framework that allows sharing of power between Intel's first processors and third-party graphics chips with dedicated graphics memory. Yet it is too early to say whether this is a better solution than the purebred AMD notebooks planned for the end of this year.
Intel may want to shake up, as it has announced that it plans to make GPU available to gamers by 2020. And if we could see that Intel has spent part of that effort on improving integrated graphics.
But if you only want to play League of Legends in modest locations or relive your youth with a hard disk full of emulators (it's okay, we will not tell you), the latest Intel Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake or AMD A-Series APU processors for desktops are likely to perform just as well as any future portable graphics solution.
On the high-end, as in cases where you connect your CPU with a powerful AMD or Nvidia GPU, Intel's processors are usually better for gaming because of their higher base and boost clock speeds. At the same time, however, AMD offers better CPUs for multi-tasking due to their higher core and thread counts – not to mention that AMD Ryzen processors offer more PCIe jobs, which can translate into better graphics performance through more GPU & # 39; s to be inserted.
Things are now being heated up in the HEDT space.
