Model and rapper Amber Rose set social media abuzz Monday when she said in a speech at the Republican National Convention that former President Donald Trump is “the best chance we have to give our babies a better life.”
Several social media users took to Twitter/X to share their thoughts on Rose’s speech, with strong opinions from both sides of the political spectrum.
Rose, Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend and Wiz Khalifa’s ex-wife, told Milwaukee that she changed her mind about Trump after doing some research and attending a few rallies.
She was one of the few speakers Trump caught in person Monday night, as he sat in a box at the Fiserv Forum, one ear bandaged and looking smitten.
“I realized that Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care if you’re black, white, gay or straight, it’s all about love,” Rose said. “And then I realized that these are my people, this is my place.”
Rose said the first Trump supporter in her racially diverse family was her father and she responded by saying she believed the Republican was racist.
Model and rapper Amber Rose caused a stir on social media on Monday when she said in a speech at the Republican National Convention that former President Donald Trump is “the best chance we have to give our babies a better life.”
Former President Donald Trump, who officially became the Republican nominee early Monday, made a brief appearance at the end of the first day of the Republican National Convention and smiled as Amber Rose spoke.
He hit back, he said, and told her Trump was not.
“And when he insisted, he told me to prove it. So, to prove my father wrong, I researched and analyzed everything related to Donald Trump,” she said.
She said her experience with “Trump supporters wearing red hats” changed her mind.
“I left behind the fear of being judged, of being misunderstood, of being attacked by the left and I put on the red hat,” she said to cheers and shouts. “I have never felt freer and more loved by my country than I do now.”
Rose’s appearance on Monday stood out as other speakers included politicians, ordinary Americans and a top union boss.
Historically, Republican conventions have not had many Hollywood personalities on stage, compared to their Democratic counterparts.
And not even Trump’s past as a reality TV star has helped much.

In the past decade and a half, the most notable celebrity appearance on the scene was probably when director and actor Clint Eastwood impersonated then-President Barack Obama in a chair, defending Republican candidate Mitt Romney in 2012.
Trump brought a handful of second-tier figures to the 2016 convention in Cleveland, giving speaking slots to Antonio Sabato Jr. and Scott Baio.
In 2020, Trump’s convention was moved to Washington, DC amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with a reduced speaker schedule.
In addition to Rose, reality TV star Savannah Chrisley will speak onstage during the four-day event.
There have been some rumors that 50 Cent might also be in attendance, with CNN reporting Monday that the rapper “is in talks” with convention officials to perform.
But a spokesperson told DailyMail.com that he currently has a scheduling conflict.
“He’s scheduled to be somewhere else,” his publicist said.
