Amazon Studios Acquires “Hell’s Belles” Feature Comedy Script Written by Jennifer Harrington.


Amazon Studios goes to the supermarket.

The company has Jennifer Harrington’s script titled Hell’s Belles. The comedy follows three female grocery store employees who have always wanted to confront their repulsive boss, Ron, but have never found the courage. They must somehow find that determination after discovering that Ron is actually Satan and about to take over the universe.

The project is in development at Amazon with regular production partners Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar on board to produce. Hell’s Belles marks a reteaming of sorts, at least on the development front, for Harrington and the pair. In early 2020, Sony recorded Harrington’s original spec script It’s the end of Liz as we know it in a very competitive situation with Kasdan and Mar on board to produce.

In addition to Hell’s Belles And LizHarrington also worked on the Apple TV+ documentary Best… , on which she also served as a co-executive producer. Harrington is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment and the law firm of Morris Yorn Barnes Levine Krintzman Rubenstein Kohner Endlich & Gellman.

Kasdan, who directed both 2017 blockbusters Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle and that of 2019 Jumanji: The Next Levelhas the upcoming Red on the horizon. That big-budget holiday movie, starring Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans and Lucy Liu, is also for Amazon Studios and its Prime Video and is being produced by Mar. Mar and Kasdan also have American born Chinese en route. The Disney+ series stars Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hus, Ke Huy Quan, Jimmy O. Yang, Ben Wang, James Hong, Ronny Chieng, Poppy Liu, Daniel Wu and more. They are represented by WME and Sloss Law.
