A homeless woman was found living inside the sign of a rooftop grocery store in Michigan, where she appeared to have set up an office.
The 34-year-old homeless man, whose identity was not revealed, was found on April 23 when a contractor was investigating an extension cord on the roof.
He had been living behind the triangle-shaped sign — about 5 feet wide and 8 feet tall with an accessible door to the ceiling — of the Family Fare supermarket, located in Midland, a city about 130 miles north of Detroit. .
It seemed to be using electricity coming from the grocery store.
Midland Police Department Officer Brennon Warren said the woman told them she had a job but had been living inside the retailer’s sign for almost a year, but she did not provide further details. Fox19Now reported.

It’s unclear how the woman was able to get onto the roof (there was no sign of a ladder around) and she seemed to baffle the officer.
“Honestly, I don’t know how it got there. She didn’t indicate it either,” he said.
The woman complied with the officer’s request and left without incident and no charges were filed.
It is unclear where the woman had gone.

Adrienne Chance, a spokesperson for SpartanNash, Family Fare’s parent company, told the news outlet that store employees responded “with the utmost compassion and professionalism” upon hearing the news.
Although he did not provide further details on the matter, he spoke about the widespread housing problem facing the nation.
“Ensuring there is enough safe and affordable housing remains a widespread issue across the country and our community needs to work together to solve it,” he said.
The officer said they provided him with information about services in the area.
“She apologized and continued on her way,” Officer Warren said. “Where she went from there, I don’t know.”
