Amazon Games has partnered with Middle-earth Enterprises, a subsidiary of Embracer Group, to develop a new MMO game based on The Lord of the Rings universe, and it has been confirmed that the game is in the early stages of development and has not yet had any official title.
Amazon Games has given responsibility for developing the new game to the Amazon Games Orange County team, who gave us the famous MMO game New World that was released last year and achieved great success, and the new The Lord of the Rings game is supposed to be available for home devices and PC, with confirmation from Amazon Games announced that it will feature The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Christoph Hartmann, Vice President of Amazon Games, said:
We have always wanted to bring players a new experience in the world of The Lord of The Rings and this has been an ambition of our team for a long time, and we are proud and grateful that Middle-earth Enterprises commissioned us to implement this project and present this magical world.
Hartmann also explained to IGN that this project is an entirely new title that has nothing to do with The Lord of The Rings, which was canceled in 2021, or even with The Lord of the Rings Online, which came out in 2007.
Lee Guinchard, CEO of Freemode Group at Middle-earth Enterprises, confirmed that they are keen on providing an MMO that describes the world of Middle-earth. Lee stated:

Being the biggest and best MMO based on the world of The Lord of the Rings would of course put it in competition with The Lord of the Rings Online which is still receiving updates from Turbine Studio despite being released 16 years ago.
