The moment pedestrian Mridhul Kombara was thrown into the air by a car in a hit-and-run incident

This is the moment a pedestrian was thrown into the air before being knocked down by a car climbing onto the sidewalk.

Mridhul Kombara, 35, was hit by a white Ford Fiesta when the vehicle suddenly veered onto the pavement, but he avoided the full force of the impact after trying to jump out of the way.

Footage shows Mridhul, dressed in a brown jacket and jeans, walking along the footpath before the runaway car hits him and a lamp post, severely damaging its bonnet in the process.

He was rushed to Coventry University Hospital, where he was found to have a broken left ankle and injuries to his hip, legs and shoulder. Sun reported.

The father-of-one, who works in IT, said he was left “traumatized” by the bizarre incident, which occurred while he was walking to a restaurant to meet friends.

He said: “Someone was looking after me that day, it’s a miracle I wasn’t hurt more.”

Mridhul initially believed the car was stopping to park on the side of the road, before realizing its speed was not slowing down and he was then thrown off the bonnet of the car.

The driver of the car, who remains unknown, is shown getting out of his car and fleeing the scene without apologizing to the victim.

Passersby helped the victim and called an ambulance, while the driver of the white Ford Fiesta simply abandoned his car and fled the scene.

Fortunately, Mridhul was helped by passers-by and the manager of a local supermarket who came to his aid and called an ambulance.

But instead of staying in the UK, Mridhul traveled to Kerala, India, to have his injuries treated and “avoid NHS waiting times”.

Mridhul said he wanted to know the identity of the reckless driver and added that he would like to “close” the matter.

“It was very painful, but I feel lucky to be alive,” he added.

Coventry Police said no arrests had been made in relation to the incident, but inquiries were continuing to identify and locate the driver.
