AMANDA PLATELL: Just give up your royal titles Harry and become a US citizen

When Prince Harry and Meghan left our shores to start a new life in the United States in 2020, we were told it was to “not just survive but thrive.”

But even though they were no longer royals, Harry remained steadfast in one thing: “The United Kingdom is my home and a place I love.” That will never change.’

Well, that didn’t last long. She has now registered her home as the United States. In an update to Companies House records filed this week, the Duke of Sussex declared the United States his “new country” of residence.

But will it go further? When asked in a television interview whether he would consider becoming a U.S. citizen, he dodged the question, almost certainly because U.S. immigration policy states that “any applicant who holds hereditary titles or positions of nobility in any foreign state must renounce the title or position’.

Across the Atlantic, Harry and Meghan cling to their family connections like poison ivy

So Harry seems to have it both ways. He wants to become a “resident” of the United States, but not a citizen because he needs to keep his and Meghan’s titles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and bleed them for all his worth.

Without them there would never have been any multi-million dollar deal with Netflix.

It’s not that they were hired for their talent.

Harry and Meghan are said to be pursuing projects outside of the Royal Family, such as their improv at American Riviera Orchard. However, they cling to their family connections like poison ivy.

They should have the courage to defend their convictions.

Harry should become an American citizen, give up his titles, and see what it’s like in the real world to just be Harry and Meghan Windsor.

After Meghan released her strawberry jam, her new best friend Tracy Robbins, married to the Paramount director, posted on social media: “I love this jam.” . . “Breakfast, lunch and dinner are so much sweeter now.” What fool has jam at every meal?

Sydney is the real deal

Hollywood’s top producer Carol Baum tells the New York Times that she doesn’t see the point in rising actress Sydney Sweeney, 26.

‘She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so sexy? Nobody has the answer.’ How cruel of the highly respected Baum, 81, to attack a young actress in this way.

And she misses the point. Us regular women love new stars who aren’t classically “pretty.” They are even more real and fabulous.

The calls to ban hitting made me think of my childhood. Only once did I get a real smack from my dad, on my butt, while he was on vacation. Against strict instructions not to go near “the lagoon,” where two children had drowned, I took my little brother there.

We were gone all day, until finally a search party found us. I never did it again.

Victoria Beckham was engaged to electrician Mark Wood, who lived with her in her family home. VB later said: “If only he had stayed in the closet where I met him at my mother’s house.” It’s not nice Vic, but I wonder if Mark thinks he was lucky to escape, given the public pantomime of your life.

  • Boris got Brexit done, David Cameron legalized gay marriage, Theresa May did nothing but fight to stay in the EU and Liz Truss wrote a funny book. Rishi’s legacy? Ban young people from smoking while he trails Keir Starmer in the polls, while his prime ministership slips away.
  • Meanwhile, Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey has backed a smoking ban as his party continues to campaign for legislation on cannabis, a drug that is causing long-term harm to young people across the globe.
  • Finally, some good news: detectives investigating the SNP’s finances are charging the husband of little haggis Nicola Sturgeon. What a weekend!

A difficult task for Alison

High hopes for the new romance between TV’s perky Alison Hammond, 49, and her handsome 6ft 10in Russian masseuse David Putman, 26, above.

David’s friends say he doesn’t care about the 23-year age difference. Me neither, but Alison should keep in mind that he lives with his uncle in Slough while she is worth over a million. He maybe he should talk to Vanessa Feltz before this relationship gets any hotter.

Target terrorists

Survivors and relatives of the victims of the Manchester Arena attack They are suing the M15 under Human Rights Act alleging that they could have prevented the tragedy.

What’s going on The hundreds of atrocities that the M15 has prevented?

It’s a bit like the victims of the 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers who sued the United States Secret Service.

The only ones who should be in the dock are the perpetrators of these evil acts.

It’s not mission impossible, Suri.

Who knows what happened to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ marriage that ended amid rumors that they separated over their faith in Scientology.

It is simply sad to know that his daughter Suri, who is now 18, has no contact with her father and does not even answer the phone if he calls. As I know, dads are especially important to daughters.

They help define our entire worldview about men.

If I were Suri I would call him. It is never too late.

Lyrics and song titles from Taylor Swift’s new album have been leaked. “I wish I could forget how we almost had it all,” believed to be a reference to her six-year romance with Briton Joe Alwyn. I know it is mandatory for women to worship at the altar of this self-made billionaire. But what’s empowering about a woman who only writes songs making fun of the men she slept with and left?

Donald Trump cries badly as his secret money trial begins with claims he had affairs with porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal.

What’s worse is that Trump’s affair with McDougal allegedly took place while his wife Melania was pregnant with their first child.

Hero of the week is headteacher Katharine Birbalsingh, who sacked a Muslim pupil at the High Court who claimed it was a breach of her human rights to ban prayers at her secular London school.

It is surprising that the girl stated that she felt persecuted, but plans to continue her education there.

Sainsbury’s employee Niamke Doffou was sacked for failing to pay for the “bags for life” she used to pack her shopping after the night shift. With some of its workers earning as little as £8.81 an hour, while chief executive Simon Roberts pockets £4.95m,

I don’t think I’ll be rushing to shop there anytime soon.

Why accuse Sacha, Rebelde, now?

Actress Rebel Wilson says in her book Rebel Rising that Sacha Baron Cohen embarrassed her in the 2016 film Grimsby and she felt “sexually harassed” by him. What she says happened to her is horrible but terrible, this was eight years later. Shouldn’t there be a statute of limitations for making claims this long after the event?
